Canberrans and visitors to the national capital are invited to the 8th Annual Christmas Eve concert at the National Carillon.

The free concert will feature five individual carillonists performing a range of popular Christmas songs from 6pm to 8pm on 24 December.

George Howe will lead the concert, followed by performances from fellow carillonists Astrid Bowler, Kerryn Milligan, Susan Antcliff and Joan Chia.

Senior Carillonist, Lyn Fuller said the Christmas Eve performance will be a wonderful celebration of Christmas.

'Everyone is invited to bring along a rug and some refreshments to enjoy this special concert at the National Carillon in the beautiful surrounds of Aspen Island, Kings Park.

'This is the eighth year the concert has been held.  Each year we see a number of families that have made the annual event a tradition.

'The event attracted up to 400 people in 2007, and we’re expecting an even larger crowd this year,' said Ms Fuller.
