25 January 2007Celebrate what's great about Australia and being Australian with the whole family at the Australia Day Children's Festival in Commonwealth Park tomorrow. The National Capital Authority is inviting the whole family to Commonwealth Park for a great day of Australian-style fun. There'll be backyard cricket, Aussie tucker, a chance to paint the backyard fence and an Aussie playground. The RMC Band and the Canberra City Band will perform at Stage 88 from 1pm. Then from 3pm, ABC Active Kidz and Tricky Nick the Magician will take to the stage to entertain the crowd. Plus there'll be fun and games with the Gecko Gang, rides for the kids, displays, face painting, story telling and farmyard animals, plus a variety of food and drink stalls open throughout the day. NCA Events Manager Peter Byron said the Children's Festival had grown in popularity over the past three years. "Thousands of people are expected to come down to Commonwealth Park to join in the fun," Mr Byron said. "The Children's Festival is a great way to celebrate Australia Day in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. What better place can there be to celebrate our national day than in our national capital?" he said. WHAT: Australia Day Children's Festival |
