6 April 2011 The east-bound lanes of Parkes Way and Morshead Drive at the new Kings Avenue overpass will come into operation tomorrow. From around midday, traffic travelling from the city towards the airport, will flow under the newly constructed bridge. This follows changed traffic arrangements last week that allowed road users to turn right onto Kings Avenue from Parkes Way. Further traffic movements across and under the new bridge will progressively become operational in the coming months, with the final traffic movements anticipated to be in place by mid-2011. A 40km/ph speed limit will continue to remain in place 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There will also be advisory signage, variable message boards and vehicle speed indicators. Road users are warned to expect traffic delays, especially during peak hours. Drivers are strongly encouraged to plan alternate routes, take public transport or allow additional time for journeys. |
